Consulting from Experience
Finding expertise in healthcare to address the major challenges of value based care requires finding someone with the experience and knowledge to achieve your goals. My areas of expertise involve quality improvement, data/analytics, provider engagement and informatics. My clinical expertise, based on 3 decades of practice in high risk obstetrics, is blended with a wide range of medical knowledge obtained by working with multiple fields as part of clinical informatics. Having served in multiple leadership roles which required developing skills in quality/process improvement, data analysis and presentation to achieve meaningful change and multidisciplinary provider engagement allows me to understand the dynamics of achieving success in healthcare. I strongly believe that those who practice in healthcare have a genuine desire to help their patients and families. By collaborating together I have witnessed amazing change but realize that with the new technologies and advancements available we can truly make a healthcare system which is effective, efficient and affordable.

With over 25 years of involvement in healthcare quality improvement and patient safety I have learned that the key ingredient to success is collaborations between physicians, nurses, nurse midwives, healthcare executives and other providers in our complex system of providing services. Patient outcomes are affected by everyone in the path of receiving care and the experience dramatically shaped by all participants. Projects such as Cesarean Section Rate Reduction, Obstetrical Hemorrhage, Emergency Response to Obstetrical Emergencies and multiple other projects have taught me to facilitate and engage on a wide scale. With the addition of electronic records I have learned that almost all quality improvement must involve the EMR and have sufficiently designed data collection/analysis to succeed. Finally, sustaining the gains requires thoughtful planning and on-going metrics for long term success.
